The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide detectives have made an arrest in connection to a body found in a field in Rio Linda, according to an official press release.
William Olsen, 47, was booked yesterday, August 27, at the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he had been in custody since the previous day for an auto theft charge. He was reportedly arrested on a charge of murder and is ineligible for bail.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, on August 26 detectives were contacted by the Placer County Sheriff’s Department regarding remains of a body found in a field in the 7500 block of 34th Street in Rio Linda. Homicide detectives conducted follow-up investigations and used search-and-rescue dogs to search the scene.

Initial information provided to detectives was reportedly consistent with what they found at the scene, and also included information as to who was responsible for the person’s death. Follow-up investigation by detectives corroborated the information, which reportedly resulted in the arrest of Olsen in connection to the case.
While positive identification of the deceased person has not yet been made, detectives are reportedly investigating the possibility of the victim being a reported missing person from outside of Sacramento County.
