SAN CARLOS – A hellish 10 minute car chase that involved the police from San Mateo and Redwood City and an armed man finally ended in San Carlos with no casualties. The fugitive was 39-year-old Marc Dubois who was arrested and charged on three counts: assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading, and possession of a controlled substance/drug paraphernalia.
Marc Dubois was already wanted when he was chased twice by police
Dubois was a parolee-at-large when San Mateo County Sheriff’s deputies caught up with him on Thursday, August 15. He escaped carrying a firearm, according to Deputy Rebecca Rosenblatt of the SMCS’s Office.
The next day, Dubois was spotted in San Carlos. This time when the Street Crimes detectives assigned to the County Gang Task Force tried to arrest him he almost ran them over with his car as he fled at approximately 5:56 pm.
The detectives, along with help from other SCMC deputies and Redwood City police officers, chased him through San Carlos and Redwood City as Dubois rammed into several patrol cars. The chase ended when Dubois crashed his car at the corner of Arroyo Ave. and Orange Ave. He was finally arrested at 6:08 pm.
Friday's chase ended when Dubois crashed near the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in San Carlos
Illegal narcotics were located in his car, according to Deputy Rosenblatt. Dubois was also taken into the hospital due to injuries sustained during the crash.
“The successful resolution of this case was due to the heroic efforts of deputies and…members of the Redwood City Police Department,” said Deputy Rosenblatt. No police officers were injured.
