Strong arm robbery occurrences increasing in San Jose

Students at Silver Creek High School were robbed walking home

The number of “strong arm robbery” cases has increased during the last several months in the City of San Jose, with the most recent onset of robberies occurring at a local high school. Students attending Silver Creek High School on Wednesday found themselves under attack from unknown suspects, who demanded their personal property from them while they were walking home from school.

According the Officers Albert Morales with the San Jose Police Department “The male student was reportedly struck in the head and was bleeding profusely when he was taken to the hospital, but his wounds are not considered to be life-threatening.” According to the report a male student had tried to stop the suspect from robbing a female student. The male student was struck by the suspect who then fled the scene.

An armed robbery suspect was held by employees, while police captured his accomplice nearby

On Tuesday an armed robbery attempt was thwarted as reported by San Jose Police. Two suspects had entered a business and attempted to steal items. When confronted by employees, they attempted to intimidate them by pulling out weapons. According to the report, “One of the suspects was disarmed by an employee and held for officers. The second suspect fled on foot and was located a short time later by officers nearby.” He was picked up on the 3400 block of McKee Road. This second suspect held by police was a juvenile and was booked into Juvenile Hall near the Main Jail in downtown San Jose, while the first was booked into the Santa Clara County jail. It was also reported that no one was injured in the incident.

The juvenile suspect was captured in a nearby residential neighborhood by police.
