The name Operation Smokin' Aces may have been inspired by the 2006 and 2010 films.

A massive raid by federal and local authorities Tuesday yielded over 100 arrests of alleged Mexican Mafia gang members.

Dubbed “Operation Smokin’ Aces,” the team brought together officers from the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the IRS and the Santa Ana police.

Authorities collared the alleged gang bangers at over 75 locations in the Santa Ana area. The arrests were prompted by several federal indictments. Charges are anticipated to include racketeering, drug sales and gang-related violence.

While investigators caught most of the suspects they were looking for, several remained at large as of Wednesday morning.
