BAKERSFIELD — A former Bakersfield teacher who’d received  three DUI’s  in two years  was arrested by the California Highway Patrol  on a warrant in the early morning hours of September  20.

Outside the Community Learning Center on 34th Street, Bakersfield

38-year-old Brandi Sherman was booked into the Kern County Jail on charges of a DUI with three or more convictions within 10 years, DUI with an enhancement, and driving with a license that had been suspended or revoked due to a drunken driving conviction.

The three prior arrests resulted in convictions. She pled guilty to DUI in February 2011 and no contest to DUIs in March 2011 and September 2012.

She served some jail time for her 2011 conviction and was then sentenced to three years probation.

The Sillect Community School teacher is being held on $117,500 bail with arraignment scheduled for Sept. 23.

According to a Kern County Superintendent of Schools spokesperson, Sherman gave notice earlier this month that she would resign effective Sept. 30 from her teaching position at the Community Learning Center on 34th Street.
