HESPERIA – Last week Sheriff’s deputies chased down a man suspected of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl and also fathering a child with a 17-year-old girl. Timothy Ray Lee, 33, of Hesperia is suspected of multiple counts of committing sexual acts with minors, and faces a felony evading charge after leading deputies on a pursuit.
California Highway Patrol units and a sheriff’s helicopter helped pursue Lee, who was spotted at Hesperia Oak Hills High School by campus security. Use of spike strips eventually helped immobilize Lee’s car.
Investigators became initially aware of the case when the 14-year-old reported the sexual abuse on September 9. Lee had been arrested but was eventually released, according to a press release, as investigators continued to compile data. During the investigation, a second victim, a 17-year-old female, was reported to have had a child fathered by Lee. Investigators issued an arrest warrant. When sheriff’s deputies discovered that Lee was attempting to contact the 17-year-old after school, deputies from the Hesperia Gang Team was dispatched to take him into custody.
The suspect fled when the squad car tried to stop Lee in the area of Main Street and Seventh Avenue. The pursuit, which ended when spike strips were used, took place on the northbound side of Interstate 15 – between Victorville and Barstow – and the chase ended near Hodge Road without incident. The release said Lee ignored the lights and sirens of the deputies’ patrol cars, evading arrest.
Held on $350,000 bail, Lee was taken to Victor Valley Jail.
