An 18-year-old cold case murder is one step closer to being solved this week as Long Beach police have arrested two suspects.
Venda Johnson, 35, and James Lemon, 34, are accused of attempting to rob a Pizza Hut delivery man in 1995, and shooting him in the process as he sat in his car in the 2600 block of E 55th Way. Both suspects were 17-years -old at the time. The victim, Renato Teniente, was 60-years-old.
The men are awaiting extradition to Long Beach where the crime occurred. In 1995, Johnson lived in Compton, and Lemon in Long Beach.
The case initially went cold because witnesses wouldn’t talk to investigators, according to reports. It was opened back up last year when new evidence was uncovered.
