After a thorough investigation into an assault that took place last Sunday evening, September 15th, Novato police have arrested a suspect who sent another man to the hospital, according to a Novato Police Department press release.
Officers initially began their investigation around 9:00 p.m., when patrol officers arrived on the intersection of First Street and Grant Avenue in response to a disturbance call. They found that there had been an altercation but originally detained two suspects under suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. An unnamed Hispanic male in his 20’s suffered a laceration to the ear, sending him to Novato Community Hospital for treatment. The injuries were determined to be relatively minor and not life threatening.
Ultimately, after NPD Officers Suhrke and Orantes investigated further, they determined that only one of the men they had detained was responsible. Luis Ariel Lopez, 27, was arrested and booked at Marin County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon.
