FRESNO – A Fresno man shot a man and a woman to death on Friday evening and then killed himself that same night.

Police say 50-year-old Anthony Jackson shot and killed 22-year-old Gerome Dixon and 38-year-old Cynthia Walkins within 10 minutes of each other.

Corner of Pierce and Montecito

Police received calls that shots had been fired at an apartment complex at the corner of Montecito and Pierce avenues just after 7 p.m. on Friday. When police arrived at the scene, they found Dixon’s body.

Police received a report of a second shooting victim just a few minutes later. They found Walkins’ body in a cul-de-sac at the end of Alta Avenue, approximately 400 feet from where Dixon’s body was found. Walkins lived one street over from the apartment complex where Jackson and Dixon lived, police said.

Police believed that Jackson was still inside the apartment complex and tried to get him to surrender. When police eventually entered the apartment at 2 a.m., they found Jackson dead, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Police have not revealed a motive for the shooting, but said that Walkins and Jackson had a 2-year-old child together.
