CHICO — On the 8th of September at approximately 7:35 PM, Chico PD officers caught sight of a wanted felon — 34-year-old Dustin Garcia — driving on East Avenue.
Being that Garcia stood wanted on a parole violation as well as suspected involvement in an open vehicle pursuit case, officers watched as he pulled into a parking lot before confronting him on foot. He immediately fled, nearly striking an officer.
One CPD patrol vehicle attempted to intervene and disable Garcia’s vehicle, after which he attempted a second escape and was cut short by another CPD vehicle.
Officers found Garcia surprisingly uncooperative and enlisted the help of a nearby K-9 unit, which kept Garcia in line long enough for successful apprehension. Shortly thereafter, a loaded firearm and narcotics were recovered from the vehicle, adding narcotics and weapons violations charges to his repertoire.
