A 63-year-old Roseville woman is reportedly under arrest on suspicion of smuggling drugs into San Quentin State Prison to be sold to inmates, according to an official press release from the Roseville Police Department.

Marie Kathrine Allison, 63, of Roseville, was reportedly arrested on suspicion of transporting heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana for sale, conspiracy, and bringing controlled substances into a state prison. She is reportedly being held in the Placer County Jail on $85,000 bail. Similar charges are reportedly being forwarded on three San Quentin inmates who are suspected of being her co-conspirators.

According to Roseville PD, several weeks ago Roseville PD Vice and Narcotics Enforcement Team (VNET) detectives began investigating allegations that a woman from Roseville was taking drugs into San Quentin, which is located near San Rafael on the northern San Francisco Bay.

During the course of the investigation — which was conducted in collaboration with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations Office of Correctional Safety’s Special Service Unit and Homeland Security Investigations’ Customs and Border Protection Air Unit — detectives reportedly gathered evidence that the suspect drove from Roseville to San Quentin with illegal drugs, which she took into the prison’s group visiting area and gave to an inmate during visits. The inmate and his co-conspirators are suspected of selling the drugs to other inmates. The Roseville woman had reportedly become acquainted with the inmate through a pen pal program.

On Saturday, October 11, 2014, VNET detectives reportedly followed the woman — later identified as Allison — from Roseville to San Quentin, where they contacted her and confiscated illegal drugs, leading to her arrest.

Earlier this year, on May 5, Allison posted on her Facebook page “I’ll believe marijuana is harmless for u when ur 80, no longer driving or making decisions that involve other people. until then, ur just a pothead, with blurred thinking . I hope u don’t drive when you’ve been hitting the glass dick .” Apparently she felt drugs in prison were not such a problem.

Two Sacramento teens, suspects in assaults on Russell Boulevard near the UC Davis campus in the early morning hours of Sunday, October 12, now face criminal charges, according to Davis Police.

DPD spokesman Lieutenant Tom Waltz said the suspects were talking with a woman near the intersection of Miller Drive and Russell Boulevard at around 3 am Sunday. Then the two suspects verbally abused two other men who happened to be walking by.

One of the suspects, who had been seated in a car during the verbal altercation, allegedly exited the vehicle, and the conflict escalated to physical combat. The other young man, driver of the vehicle, used it as a weapon, attempting to run the other victim down.

The suspects fled. Davis police soon caught sight of them, however and gave chase. Near the Del Paso Road region of Sacramento they cited Jordan Kilia Thomas, 18, for battery. The driver, Brandon Irving Powell, 19, now faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon, Lt. Waltz said.

A Stockton man driving under the influence of alcohol struck a six-year-old boy pedestrian on October 4.

Several callers informed Vacaville Police 911 dispatchers about the incident, which took place in the parking lot of an apartment complex located in the 300 block of Brown Street, a few minutes after 8 pm on the evening of Saturday, October 4.

The callers told the 911 dispatchers that a white sedan had hit a small child, who had sustained a compound fracture wound to his right leg. In a compound fracture, the broken bone protrudes through the skin, causing bleeding. Police responding to the calls quickly located the wounded child and transported him to a local hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, police also determined the white sedan’s driver, Fidel Zavala Jr., 27, had been driving while intoxicated. Also, Zavala’s driver’s license was determined to have been suspended due to a previous DUI charge. Records show he was arrested in 2007 while living in Vacaville for DUI, hit and run. and driving with a suspended license. He was charged with the suspended licence and failure to appear in court in 2012 as well.

Zavala was arrested at the scene and charged with Felony DUI causing great bodily injury; DUI with more than .08 percent blood alcohol causing bodily injury (another felony); and driving while under suspension for DUI (a misdemeanor). Zavala offered no resistance as police booked him into Solano County Jail.

Santa Barbara County - A team of apparently sophisticated counterfeiters working the scenic Central Coast tourist town of Solvang received something of a compliment from local law enforcement when evidence collected pursuant to their recent arrest earned the distinction of being forwarded to the United States Secret Service for further analysis.

solvang

According to Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer Kelly Hoover, contact by SBSD detectives was made with the Secret Service “due to the sophistication of the counterfeit bills” which were seized following an investigation that began on the evening of September 30th in the City of Solvang. It was to a downtown Solvang location that SBSD deputies responded to multiple reports by area merchants that there were “several subjects attempting to pass counterfeit $100 bills” throughout the popular tourist center’s retail district.

When deputies arrived and visited with store owners in the Danish Village situated in the heart of the Santa Ynez Valley just north of the City of Santa Barbara, they were given “information that led to the location of the suspects inside a parked vehicle.” Deputies then made contact with Tanya Lee Rose, 40, Melissa Jones, 42, Doreen Rowland, 48, and Thomas Berchtold, 40, all of whom are natives of the Bakersfield area.

With positive identification of the suspects made by local merchants providing sufficient probable cause for a search, deputies discovered multiple counterfeit $100 bills, a stun gun, an open bottle of vodka, as well as methamphetamine and other materials suspected to have been used in the production of the counterfeit cash.

Rose, Jones, Rowland, and Berchtold were all arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of counterfeit currency, and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Investigators from the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office are searching for door-to-door scammers who allegedly victimized residents at the Templeton Gardens Senior Apartments.

According to the sheriff’s office, they received several reports last week regarding a possible scam that targeted several residents of the Templeton Gardens Senior Apartments in Templeton.

Investigators say seven elderly victims gave the women checks and cash that ranged from five dollars to $300 for a total loss of more than $1,000. Templeton High School confirms it is not conducting this fundraising event. Deputies are on the lookout for two white female suspects.

The first suspect is a white, female, approximately 18-20 years old, approximately 5’6 – 5’8″ tall, long curly black hair, wearing black tights and a blue, tank top over a white t-shirt. The second suspect is described as a white, female, approximately 18-20 years old, approximately 5’2″ -5’4″ tall, light-brown hair and wearing a red top.

Santa Barbara - Santa Barbara Police Department Public Information Officer Sgt. Riley Harwood has released details of the arrests of four local area gang members suspected to have ties with the Mexican Mafia, and who have allegedly been actively trafficking in the sale of methamphetamine and perpetrating a range of other felonies.

Ruben Jose Regalado

Ruben Jose Regalado

According to Harwood, Santa Barbara Police Department detectives have been aggressively investigating “the influence of the Mexican Mafia prison gang and ‘Surenos’ (Southern California Hispanic street gang members) in the commission of crimes throughout Santa Barbara County” ever since local area gang member Raymond Macias was arrested in a 2013 case involving the kidnapping and torture of a rival gang member. The year-and-a-half long investigation pointed to the ongoing extortion of various county residents on behalf of the Mexican Mafia, with victims involved “in both criminal and legitimate activities,” an illegal operation Harwood reported as referred to by criminal gang members as “collecting taxes.”

Benjamin Ybarra

With Benjamin Ybarra, 36, Jesse Martin Enriquez, 35, Franco Eric Aguiniga, 24, and Ruben Jose Regalado, 34, all identified during the course of the investigation as conspiring to commit extortion and traffic in methamphetamine, detectives worked closely with the Lompoc Police Department, the Santa Maria Police Department, and the California Department of Corrections to locate and apprehend the four.

Early Tuesday morning, sheriff’s deputies responded to a call regarding the sex offense just west of Fresno. Deputies learned that Luis Angel Ramirez, an acquaintance of the victim’s father, had kidnapped the girl from the front yard of her house and had taken her to a nearby truck parked on the property.

“Ramirez then put the young girl inside the truck, gagged and duct taped her mouth to prevent her from calling for help, and proceeded to sexually assault her,” according to the sheriff’s office.

Ventura County - When a prescription pad was reported stolen from an Oxnard pharmacy in June 2014, and a pharmacist at the same location was presented with a forged prescription from that same pad, investigators from the Ventura County Interagency Pharmaceutical Crimes Unit were soon on the trail of Ryan Doming, a 25-year old Ventura resident whom they suspected as the thief and forger.

According to Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Sgt. Victor Fazio, “detectives followed up on the information and learned that Ryan’s brother Cody” and several others—including Jessica Davis, 21, and Michael Vasquez, 23– were engaged in a conspiratorial operation to acquire Xanax and Hydrocodone. Shortly thereafter, Ryan Doming and Cody Doming were contacted by Ventura County Sheriff’s Department detectives and arrested on “multiple counts of commercial burglary and prescription fraud.”

With the Doming brothers in custody, Davis and Vasquez immediately made themselves scarce and left the area. Warrants for their arrests ensued, and just a week ago detectives learned that they were occupying a Ventura home suspected as a point of distribution for the sale of methamphetamine and marijuana throughout the local community.

Then, in the pre-dawn light of October 10th, with search warrant in hand, detectives—who had previously observed Vasquez and Andrew Manning, a 36-year old Santa Barbara resident selling marijuana and methamphetamine in the immediate area of the home now under surveillance—entered the home on Tiara Street and made contact with Elizabeth Meeks, 31, Angel Navarette, 35, Victoria Delatore, 19, all of whom were under the influence of controlled substances and in possession of same. With ample evidence of methamphetamine and marijuana throughout the residence, the homeowners Paula Nelson, 45, and Rock Nelson, 44, were located that afternoon and arrested “for maintaining a place where drugs were being sold, felony child endangerment, and being under the influence of methamphetamine.”

A total of ten suspects were arrested and booked into Ventura County Jail on multiple drug violations, with bail amounts set thus: Michael Vasquez: $250,000; Rock Nelson: $250,000; Paula Nelson: $250,000; Angel Navarette: $100,000; Andrew Manning: $60,000; Elizabeth Meeks: $60,000; Valerie Delatore: $20,000. Jessica Davis remains at large and is currently sought on a felony arrest warrant, while Ryan and Cody Doming each posted bail and await pending court appearances.

Two men have been arrested in connection to a marijuana shipping operation that spanned from Roseville to the East Coast, according to an official press release issued by the Roseville Police Department.

Brian Lee Feld Getz and Timothy Conway Reimer

Brian Lee Feld Getz, 36, of Grass Valley was reportedly arrested on Friday, October 10 at a post office in Folsom. And Timothy Conway Reimer, 33, of Philadelphia, PA, was arrested the same day at a searched property in Grass Valley. Both men are reportedly in custody at the Placer County Jail on suspicion of possessing and selling marijuana, and conspiracy.

According to Roseville PD, about a month ago Roseville Vice and Narcotics Enforcement (VNET) detectives began investigating a shipment of marijuana from Roseville. Detectives reportedly uncovered a scheme where suspects acquired marijuana from the local region, processed and packaged it, and then shipped it from post office facilities in Roseville and other local communities to Pennsylvania and New Jersey. One of the suspects then reportedly flew to the East Coast to receive the packages, and presumably sold them. The cash received from the sale of the drugs was then shipped back to the suspect.

Detectives found plenty of processed marijuana and a lot of cash, along with other evidence.

On Friday, October 10, Roseville PD detectives worked in collaboration with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Homeland Security Investigation’s Customs and Border Protection Air Unit to issue search warrants on two properties in the Grass Valley and Nevada City areas. During the search, detectives reportedly found marijuana processing facilities, a butane-fueled hashish manufacturing lab, vacuum-sealed packages of processed marijuana, large amounts of currency, a handgun, and approximately 2 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms. During the operation, detectives confiscated approximately 141 pounds of packaged marijuana and $221,000 in cash.

According to Roseville PD, the investigation is continuing and additional arrests are likely.

Young Robbery Trio Suspected of Multiple Jobs

Citizens and business operators in Northern Santa Barbara County, having been plagued by nearly a dozen armed robberies in recent weeks, may be sleeping better tonight in the knowledge that the apparent perpetrators of an October 11th convenience store heist in downtown Santa Maria are now under lock and key.

The modus operandi of that robbery, similar to the others no suspected to have been conducted by the same individuals—including those that took place on public streets–involved nothing more than three young men approaching store clerks and demanding cash under the implicit threat of force. Since the initial flurry of robberies in which cash was the pure objective, Santa Maria Police Department detectives conducted an investigation that led them to identify David Wilkerson, 18, and two male juvenile accomplices as the prime suspects.

According to SMPD detective Sgt. Paul Van Meel, “through the service of search warrants at various locations and the ongoing investigation” law enforcement located and arrested Wilkerson and his associates on Sunday, October 12th. Both juveniles were arrested and transported to Santa Maria Juvenile Hall where they were booked on charges of possessing stolen property and possession of marijuana for sale.

For his part, Wilkerson was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail and charged with possessing property stolen in several of the earlier robberies. Whether or not Wilkerson and his co-conspirators are responsible for the multiple preceding crimes remains undetermined, but Van Meel commented that “we’re looking into the possibility of how involved, if at all, this little group had been in the other robberies that we’ve had, and we’re obviously putting a lot of effort into that.”

Report of smoke coming from San Leandro home leads to dope operation arrests

You’ve heard the adage “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.” It’s a nice bit of common sense, but it’s not always literally true. On the night of Friday, October 10, San Leandro Police discovered that, at least sometimes, where there’s smoke, there’s dope.

According to a police department press release, at around 10:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Linnell Avenue in San Leandro after receiving a report of smoke coming from a house there. As the first officer to respond approached the house, however, he was hit not by the familiar smell of smoke but by something else: the pungent aroma of fresh marijuana. It appeared to be coming from the garage.

Smoke coming from this house alerted police to a potential problem.

Smoke coming from this house alerted police to a potential problem.

More officers arrived and police knocked on the front door of the home, according to the press release. After a considerable delay, a man finally opened the door, later identified as 39-year-old San Leandro resident Hao Wei Liu. Officers queried Liu about the odor coming from the garage, but Liu was evasive with his answers.

Police secured the residence, at which point they came across two other men, 20-year-old Xie Sheng Lei and 34-year-old Wenfeng Li, both San Leandro residents. Officers also found evidence of an intricate pot cultivation operation going on inside the home, according to the press release. None of the suspects, however, lived at the location, according to the arrest reports.

After obtaining a search warrant for the residence, officers investigated further. Their search turned up 380 mature marijuana plants and 64 pounds of processed marijuana. They also found another 3.5 pounds of pot in plastic bags inside a 2012 Mercedes-Benz CLK350 parked in the driveway.

Police estimate the total value of the marijuana seizure at $465,000.

The Mercedes, which belonged to one of the suspects, was seized under asset forfeiture laws.

Police arrested the three men and booked them at the San Leandro Police Department. The Alameda County District Attorney filed charges against the men for cultivation and possession of marijuana for sale.

“It is troublesome for us to know that such an elaborate, illegal operation occurred in a quiet, residential neighborhood,” said Lt. Robert McManus of the San Leandro Police Department. “The training and keen senses of the officers that responded to this call are the reason why we were able to successfully end [the suspects'] operation.”

BAKERSFIELD — A 21-year-old woman and a 16-year-old juvenile were arrested on Wednesday night for a burglary that put five schools on lockdown earlier in morning in East Bakersfield. Melanie Cazares was booked in to the downtown Bakersfield jail on various charges, while the juvenile was released to a guardian pending a criminal complaint.

Sheriff’s investigators said that incident began when they got a call about a home burglary around 9 a.m. on Shirlee Court, just north of the East Bakersfield High School campus.

The victim of the burglary reported her car alarm went off and that the keys to the vehicle had been stolen along with a firearm. “The suspect then reportedly broke into a second home where he was confronted by the homeowner,” said Sheriff’s Spokesperson Ray Pruitt. “The suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and ran out of the home.”

East High School, Horace Elementary School, Harding Elementary, Compton Junior High and Heritage Academy were all put on lockdown, which was lifted around 10:30 a.m.

Later that day the Kern County Sheriff’s Office helicopter located a vehicle similar to the one seen during the burglary, which was described by witnesses as gold, lowered Honda with a black roof. “Deputies stopped the vehicle and located property taken during the earlier burglary including the handgun,” Pruitt said. Deputies also learned the vehicle had been reported stolen to the sheriff’s office at 6 a.m. that morning.

Police are still looking for a third suspect who is described as a Hispanic male with numerous tattoos, about 6 feet tall and “transient” in appearance.

Rape Victim Blows Whistle on “Roommates”

Ventura - Today’s tight rental market, wherein the monthly cost of apartment occupancy frequently exceeds individual financial resources, can create unique and potentially “questionable” living arrangements among friends, relatives, and even strangers.

When the Ventura Police Department was contacted by an 18-year old female on May 29th with allegations of rape, imprisonment, and sodomy at the hands of her roommates, she described events far afield from any contemplated by the classic TV sitcom “Three’s Company,” in which a male enjoyed the comedic company of two females. According to Ventura Police Cpl. D. Ruggiero, the female victim made her report after vacating the apartment she had been sharing with Brandon Vanwie, 24, and Madeline Carden, 20, and described “how she was raped while she was intoxicated and another occasion where she was bound and sodomized.” She further alleged that she had been “treated as their child”, with no access to her money or personal documents.

Madeline Carden

Madeline Carden

Ventura Police Major Crimes Detectives conducted an investigation over the ensuing four months, and ultimately served a search warrant on the apartment still occupied by Vanwie and Carden on September 3rd, the product of which supported the victim’s allegations. Additional evidence collected at the scene indicated the suspects’ ongoing exchange of child pornography, as well as their active stalking and surveillance of a local female teen while she was walking to school.

Upon questioning, “both Vanwie and Carden told detectives that they regularly fantasized about sex acts with underage girls,” Ruggiero reported, adding that detectives found additional evidence of their plans to “lure underage girls to their home for the purpose of sexual acts.”

On October 7th, both Vanwie and Carden were taken into custody and booked into Ventura County Jail on charges of conspiracy, rape, sodomy, child annoyance, and possession of child pornography, with their bail set at $200,000 each.

The San Luis Obispo Police arrested a sex offender for a parole violation on Tuesday after an alert citizen noticed the suspect walking near a school.

According to SLOPD, they received a call around 8 a.m. stating sex offender Robert Anthony Menendez, 35, of San Luis was walking in front of Sinsheimer Elementary School. The caller recognized Menendez from the Megan’s Law Web site as a registered sex offender and printed Menendez’ photo from the Web site.

SLOPD and the State Parole Office were notified of Menendez’s whereabouts. They were told he was last seen in the area of Augusta and Laurel Lane. The day before, Menendez failed to show up for his scheduled parole meeting in violation of his parole agreement.

SLOPD detectives with parole agents searched for Menendez and located him around 2:30 p.m. in an apartment on the 1100 block of Laurel Lane. Menendez was taken into custody for a parole violation without incident. He was later booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on a parole hold.

Santa Barbara County- Proving once again that the threat of deadly violence respects no gender distinction, and that a lady with a knife is not to be trifled with, Autumn Pommier, 27, appears to have been the dangerous half of a male-female couple involved in a street dispute with a second man on the streets of Santa Maria on the evening of October 14th.

According to Santa Maria Police Department spokesman Lt. Mark Norling, Pommier was in the company of Ruben Cruz Ortiz, 30, another area resident, when they encountered a 27-year old man on the street with whom they engaged in conversation that eventually became less than friendly and more than a mere verbal altercation.

Ruben Cruz Ortiz

Ruben Cruz Ortiz

It was sometime after 7:30 p.m. when Santa Maria Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call for service on the 900 block of West Cook Street. Officers responding to the scene discovered Angel Valdez on the sidewalk bleeding from the lower abdomen, the site of what appeared to be a “non-life-threatening stab wound” as described by Norling in his report to the media.

The ensuing investigation indicated that Valdez had engaged in a verbal argument that soon became physical between himself and Ortiz. While the two men handled themselves in their manly manner, however, Pommier “approached and stabbed the victim and then held the knife to the victim and threatened to stab him again,” Norling said.

While both Pommier and Ortiz fled the scene, officers quickly located them close by. Pursuant to positive IDs and further questioning, both suspects were arrested and transported to Santa Barbara County Jail where they were booked on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and making terrorist threats.
