Twitter Employees Targeted By ISIS

SAN FRANCISCO–Several news outlets are reporting this morning that a Twitter account claiming to be affiliated with the Islamic State, or ISIS, has issued death threats against the San Francisco-based social media company’s employees. The account @dawlamoon, which Twitter has since suspended, issued the series of threats in Arabic on Sunday calling for “lone wolf attacks.”

The account is said to have been associated with Al Nusra Al Maqdisia (The Supporters of Jerusalem), a Jerusalem-based group that pledged loyalty to ISIS in February. Before the account was suspended it had more than 3,000 followers, according to reports. It is not clear if the group has formal ties to ISIS.

“The time has arrived to respond to Twitter’s management by directly attacking their employees and physically assassinating them!!” read one of the tweets. “Those who will carry this out are the sleepers cells of death.”

Another tweet specifically singled out employees in San Francisco: “Every Twitter employee in San Francisco in the United States should bear in mind and watch over himself because on his doorstep there might be a lone wolf assassin waiting.”

According to Vocativ, which first broke the story yesterday, Twitter has been battling ISIS by repeatedly closing accounts related to it. ISIS and its supporters have been using the social media network to spread propaganda and calls to violence. Now, it seems, at least one group has brought the fight directly to Twitter: “Twitter management should know that if they do not stop their campaign in the virtual world, we will bring the war to them in the real world on the ground.”

ISIS is a Sunni jihadist group which has proclaimed itself a caliphate and controls territories in Iraq and Syria. It has been designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and other countries.

Twitter says its security team is working with law enforcement officials to investigate the veracity of the threats.

COACHELLA – Car thieves evade arrest by driving off road, leading to not only their arrest, but the discovery of another stolen vehicle and apprehension.

Thursday September 4 at approximately 1:00 pm, a stolen Honda speeding down the area of Ave 45 and Harrison St. was spotted by a Coachella Police. When the deputy attempted to stop the Honda, the driver refused to pull over and sped away. The officer pursued the vehicle and called for assistance.

California Highway Patrol and additional law enforcement arrived to aid in the investigation and apprehension of the suspects. In an effort to continue evading authorities, the driver of the stolen Honda ran the vehicle off road in the area of Ave. 66 and Martinez Road.

Once off the road, the driver stopped the vehicle and the three occupants exited, fleeing on foot into a date palm grove. Despite their efforts at hiding in the palms, all three occupants of the Honda were apprehended. Christopher Gonzalez, 25 of Mecca, Tracy Guadalupe, 19 of Mecca, and a 17-year-old male juvenile of Palm Springs were all apprehended and arrested.

During the efforts to locate these three suspects, authorities found themselves tracking a second vehicle, also a stolen Honda. Again deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but this driver also sped away. This second vehicle was brought to a halt on 86 Expressway near Avenue 81 when the Honda became disabled. The driver of the vehicle, Francisco Diaz, 23 of Mecca, was arrested for vehicle theft.

No injuries occurred as a result of either of these pursuits and there were no vehicle collisions, although speeds in both pursuits reached above 100 miles per hour at various times.

Anyone with information regarding either of these incidents they are encouraged to call the Thermal Sheriff Station at (760) 863-8990.

FORT BRAGG, MENDOCINO COUNTY – Sometimes a simple traffic stop goads a driver into making things much worse. When Richard Olstad was driving his silver Dodge Pickup truck through Fort Bragg last Friday at 4:38 pm with two women and an 11-year-old boy, he was pulled over for a traffic violation. He had just turned off of Babcock Drive onto Highway 20 towards the coast. But knowing that he had a suspended drivers license, and perhaps that he had a felony probation pickup order on him, he decided to make a run for it. He accelerated the truck and fled from the patrol deputy.

Olstad had been arrested in May of 2013 on warrants for outstanding domestic violence charges. He was picked up while he was a member of the Nortenos gang in Fort Bragg, and had been in an altercation with rival gangster Ivan Sanchez. Sanchez was also arrested for beating and stabbing a woman, and was seen attacking Olstad with a club. Both were arrested, and Olstad was later called to testify at Sanchez’s trial. Olstad was later arrested again, in June for possession of narcotics, and in September for burglary and probation violations.

Olstad finally stopped on this road behind McDonalds before fleeing on foot.

Olstad finally stopped on this road behind McDonalds before fleeing on foot.

So on Friday afternoon when the deputy tried to pull him over, Olstad perhaps relied on instinct to flee from further trouble. According to a Mendocino Sheriff’s Office press release, he drove down Highway 20 and turned right onto Boatyard Drive. Driving at 40 mph on the two lane road, he then made an abrupt turn onto the road running behind the McDonalds before reaching Highway 1. After 40 yards, he stopped and jumped out of the truck and ran towards the Noyo River, which runs right behind the area before emptying into the ocean. The two women and the boy stayed behind in the truck.

Olstad ran down the embankment towards the water. Additional Sheriff’s deputies and Fort Bragg Police officers were soon on the scene, and were directed to where he was last seen. They searched the area, and eventually found him headed toward the ocean, just past the Noyo Bridge. It took about 20 minutes to locate and detain him.

After running down the embankment, Olstad was captured under the Noyo Bridge, on the shore opposite.

After running down the embankment, Olstad was captured under the Noyo Bridge, on the shore opposite.

Meanwhile, back at the truck, one of the passengers, 37-year-old Jamie Barajas, was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for possession of a controlled substance. She was cited and released at the scene. She had been arrested in April on that charge, and back in 2010 on second degree burglary and conspiracy.

Richard Wayne Olstad was booked and charged with driving with a suspended license and felony probation violations. And because he decided to make a run for it, he is now also charged with child endangerment, evading a peace officer, and resisting arrest. He is being held without bail at the Mendocino County Jail.

Transient in trouble again

Paul Stephen Golyer, who just turned 25 in May, has already built up quite a record for himself, and has been the subject of some notoriety in the past. He was arrested in Ukiah on Thursday, August 28, and again this Sunday, September 7. But he first made the news in November of 2012.

It was then that the 23-year-old transient, then of the San Rafael area, was walking on San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge with a 10-week-old puppy. He was seen kicking, dragging and even swinging the dog on its leash. Bridge Police alerted the Highway Patrol after witnessing the abuse, and he was arrested. According to a story published in the San Jose Mercury News, the dog’s rear paws were raw and bleeding, and its breathing was labored and short. It had possible internal injuries, and was taken to the Marin Humane Society for treatment. He was charged with felony animal cruelty. It was also reported that Golyer at the time had a prior conviction in Arizona for attempted armed robbery.

Golyer's Jimmy crashed into a truck in this Ukiah lot.

Golyer’s Jimmy crashed into a truck in this Ukiah lot.

A few months later, in January 2013, Golyer was in trouble again, this time in Ukiah. According to a police press release, on Friday, January 24 at 3:20 in the afternoon, police were sent to Talmage Road on reports of transients in the area fighting with each other. As they arrived, the participants fled. The officers did, however, find a tan 1999 GMC Jimmy (small SUV) which had crashed into a pickup truck parked at the Talmage Office Park. The Jimmy had apparently lost control and spun sideways into the truck, moving it 2 parking spaces, while damaging signs and landscaping.

Police found the driver, the same Paul Stephen Golyer, at the scene, showing signs of intoxication. A 54-year-old woman, who was his passenger, suffered injuries in the crash. Golyer was arrested for DUI with injury to another person, with alcohol level over .08%. Golyer still reported his residence as transient, but now from Phoenix, Arizona.

Over the next year, Golyer was arrested several times on charges of failure to appear in court, and outstanding warrants on the cruelty to animals charge. then in February of this year he was found in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. In March he was charged with a probation violation and resisting arrest, and in April for contempt of court, disobeying a court order, and failure to appear. July saw another failure to appear in court and probation violations.

Golyer was here at Jack-In-The-Box causing more trouble.

Golyer was here at Jack-In-The-Box causing more trouble.

Then on Thursday, August 28 at 2:09 pm, Ukiah police were sent to the Jack-In-The-Box on Airport Blvd. on reports of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance. They found Golyer showing definite signs of intoxication, and he even told them he had been drinking. The officers arrested him for public intoxication and probation violations. They put him in the back of the squad car to take him to the Mendocino County Jail for booking. As they were driving, he reportedly began to hit his head on the partition between the back and front seats. The officer told him to stop, and he responded by turning around on his back, and he then began kicking the partition.

He was told once again to stop, but he continued, and additional patrol officers responded as the officer pulled over to deal with him. Together they managed to restrain him, and place him in more secure restraints so he could do no further damage to himself or the patrol car. They made it to county jail, where the additional charges of resisting or delaying an officer were added to his list. This Sunday he was once again arrested for violating probation and contempt of court – disobeying a court order. Details of that arrest were not available.

Flare Gun attack leads to arrest of homeless man

REDDING – A dispute between two transients led to a man native to Redding shooting a transient from San Antonio, Texas with a flare gun. 33-year-old Leroy John Davis was taken to Mercy Medical center for treatment of his wounds, and 23-year-old Trevor James Cearley was arrested on assault and weapons charges.

Trevor Cearley was in the news earlier this year, but his trouble with the law began even before that. Records show he was arrested at least four times between 2011 and 2013 on charges of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. His father, Tracy James Cearley, 48, had also had several run-ins with the law, including an arrest in May 2013, a failure to appear and DUI charge in February of this year, and another DUI, along with a charge of driving with a suspended licence (for DUI) in April. By May of this year, both men were said to be living together in a wooded area behind the area of Little Caesar’s Pizza on Lake Blvd., in a north Redding transient camp.

On the morning of Thursday, May 29, according to a police press release, officers were sent to the area, to the AM/PM Mini Mart on Lake, on reports of a stabbing. Trevor was there, and had a stab wound on his left forearm. He told officers he had been in an argument with his father, but admitted it was in self-defense, apparently implicating himself as the aggressor. He was taken to Mercy Medical for treatment, and officers searched for Tracy Cearley. He was found later that day, at 1:27 in the afternoon, when he turned himself in. He also claimed the attack on his son was self defense.

According to a story published by KRCR TV, a woman who was living in the camp near the pair said the Trevor often picked fights with his father. “He had it coming,” she said. “He was coming down off dope and giving his dad a hard time.” Neither man were arrested at that time, but the details of the investigation were turned over to the District Attorneys’s officer for review. Tracy Cearley was, however, arrested a few weeks later, on June 18 on charges for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The wooded area behind the businesses on Lake, including Little Caesar's, is home to a transient camp.

And now Trevor is back. In the same area of Lake Blvd. near Masonic, and near the North Point Plaza and Lake Boulevard shopping centers, Redding police were sent on reports of a man shot in the face with a flare gun. Witnesses were able to provide enough information to identify Trevor Cearley as the suspect. He was soon found about a half mile away, near Boulder Creek Drive and Black Marble Way. He was detained, and the flare gun was still in his possession.

Tracy Cearley was contacted at the AM/PM after the stabbing, which also fronts the transient camp.

Redding police investigators took over the case, and determined that it started when Cearley took Davis’ backpack and ran. Davis chased and found Cearley, and demanded his property back. Cearley pulled out his flare gun, and Davis then pulled out a knife. In the standoff, Cearley was said to fire his weapon, hitting Davis on the left side of his face, and then he once again fled.

Cearley was arrested and booked at the Shasta County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, petty theft, carrying a concealed firearm, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. (A flare gun meets the definition of a firearm in California.)

FRESNO – Three suspects driving stolen Hondas were arrested after officers on Fresno’s auto theft team followed them and ended up at the home of a woman who has been arrested for previous auto thefts.

On Tuesday morning, the suspects unwittingly led officers to a home in the 1400 block of East Fedora Avenue. The home was occupied by Guadalupe Delgado, who was once arrested as one of Fresno’s top auto thieves.

Police are still trying to determine whether Delgado, who has been identified more than once as one of the city’s top five auto thieves, was connected to the suspects or was acting as a broker for them.

One of the arrested suspects is a juvenile and the other two are Pao Vang and George Kue, believed to be 25 and 21. They are members of the Mongolian Boys gang and were all on probation for auto theft.

Police believe the suspects are responsible for the theft of between five and seven cars every night, which are then likely taken to chop shops in Madera.

SLO man arrested, $1 million bond

San Luis Obispo arrested a man for kidnapping and torture on Tuesday.

According to SLOPD, officers responded to a call on Monday around 11:30 p.m. to the Chevron Station located at 151 Santa Rosa Ave off of Foothill Road regarding a report of an alleged assault. The alleged victim had entered the business. It is unknown who called the police at time of press.

When officers arrived at the Chevron they discovered a 27-year-old female victim hiding in the store, with significant injuries covering her entire body. According to SLOPD, the victim’s injuries consisted of burn marks, lacerations, scratches, bruising and extreme swelling. There was also tape tangled in her hair. Police learned the female victim was assaulted by suspect Timothy John Hayes, 33, of SLO at his residence located on the 500 block of Jeffrey Drive.

The victim told police Hayes bound her victim with tape then assaulted her with a knife, scissors a pool cue-stick. She also said he burned her with kitchen utensils. The victim also told police Hayes held her against her will and continued to threaten and assault her for approximately two hours before she was able to escape.

SLOPD officers went to Hayes’ residence and arrested him. Police believe he was under the influence of a controlled substance at the time of arrest.  Detectives did the follow-up investigation which included obtaining a search warrant for Hayes’ residence, which in turn resulted in the discovery of corroborating evidence to support the victim’s allegations.

Investigators also discovered two weapons during the search, a .22-caliber handgun and a high-powered rifle. Both weapons were seized. Hayes was transported and booked at SLO County Jail. He was charged with felony counts of torture, kidnapping, mayhem, false imprisonment, criminal threats, domestic battery and assault with a deadly weapon. Hayes’ bail was set at $1 million

An Orgy of Sex-related Criminal Charges

INGLEWOOD, CA—Inglewood tends to be a typical city with typical criminals, but every now and then someone near Inglewood City Hall gets popped for a plethora of remarkable charges regarding corruption and/or sex.

Noa Francisco Lopez, 45, was picked up by Inglewood Police Department (IPD) officers on Sunday, September 7 just a few minutes after midnight near Inglewood City Hall, which is in the same lot as IPD’s headquarters.

According to a February 10, 2007 story in the L.A. Times, IPD was the target of an FBI sting regarding the department’s officers being involved with prostitution and a possible prostitution ring. The incident was serious enough for the Times to write that “[e]vidence seized by federal agents and local investigators included ‘very detailed ledgers’ that suggested Inglewood officers were receiving sexual favors at the businesses without paying, according to one source close to the investigation.”

In Sunday’s arrest, Lopez was charged with three sex-related charges and one federal charge related to immigration. The IPD charges included lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years of age (288(A)PC), continuous sexual abuse against children (288.5(A)PC) and oral copulation with the threat of retaliation (288A(B)(2)PC).

Bail for Lopez was set at $425,000 along with deportation.

INGLEWOOD, CA—After years of operation, the red light cameras in Inglewood, California, were made inert in January of this year. The iconic Forum, built by Charles Luckman in 1964, reopened the same month after nearly 15 years of being inert. In a July 30 radio interview, Inglewood mayor James T. Butts stated that “We got rid of [the red light cameras] in January of this year. They have been out of operation for about six months now.”

Nevertheless, one can still be pulled over for running a red light.

Zamire David Kimble, 36, was stopped by Inglewood Police Department (IPD) officers on Saturday, September 9 at the corner of Crenshaw and Century Boulevards in Inglewood. The “unemployed” man was charged with possession of a controlled substance (11377(A)HS) and failure to stop for a red light.

Bail for the possession charge was set at $10,000; bail for running the red light was set at a paltry $100.

A prior warrant had been issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) and the bail of that prior was set at $55,000.

If there is any word to the criminals, it is certainly that patience will help prevent one from being pulled over.

Members of the Santa Cruz Anti-Crime Team Gang Task Force (GTF) were nearby, so they decided to respond to the call. Once the team arrived, all but one of the suspects ran from the park in different directions.

A 17-year-old juvenile was the only one that remained. With the assistance of Watsonville Police Department the GTF agents were able to locate two other suspects, identified at Avalos and Trejo-Gomez.

Authorities also found evidence of alcohol consumption, which might have led to an easy citation, but lying next to the alcohol was a loaded firearm. All three were arrested for possession of the loaded firearm. Avalos and Gomez received an additional charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Avalos and Gomez were transported to Santa Cruz County Jail. Their bail has been set at $50,000.00 each.  “All three were on active probation.” Sergeant Stefan Fish of SCCACT wrote in a press release, “The gun was not registered and has not been reported stolen.”

The juvenile was transported to the Santa Cruz County Juvenile Detention Center.

WEEDPATCH— Four people in the small community of Weedpatch just south of Lamont in Kern County were arrested on Wednesday in connection with an assault that occurred earlier this year.

Fernando Vega, 29, along with 19-year-old Christopher Bustamante, 19-year-old Efrain Chocoteco and 19-year-old Joshua Rodriguez were all booked into the Kern County Central Receiving Facility on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and participation in a criminal street gang. Bustamante was also booked on the additional charge of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of sale.

According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, the four men were taken into custody after a five-month long investigation concluded that Vega, Bustamante, Chocoteco and Rodriguez were all suspects involved in an April 7, 2014, assault that occurred in the 7800 block of Florence Street in Weedpatch.

“The victim of the assault, who was taken to nearby Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, told deputies that he had been assaulted by several individuals and had a glass bottle broken over his head,” KCSO Public Information Officer Ray Pruitt said.

On Sept. 10, deputies from the Sheriff’s Gang Unit executed search warrants on each of the suspect’s residences. “During their search, deputies located and seized several items of known gang affiliation,” Pruitt said. “As well as amounts of methamphetamine packaged for sale inside Mr. Bustamante’s residence.”

Man chasing marijuana burglars gets shot, police arrest one

Growing limited amounts of marijuana for medical purposes may be legal in California now, but that doesn’t make it safe. Since recreational marijuana is still not legal, a grower is always at risk of someone trying to steal his or her crop for personal use or as a valuable commodity to sell.

A Santa Rosa man was awakened early this morning, around 1 am, to the sound of someone in his house on Windsor Court in north east Santa Rosa. The resident, a 49-year-old man, is legally permitted to grow medical marijuana, and had several plants growing inside his house. In Sonoma County, certified medical users are permitted to grow up to 30 plants in no more than 100 square feet of growing area. They can possess up to three pounds of processed marijuana per year, per qualified patient.

According to the Santa Rosa police, when the man woke up, he searched and found a man in his home. He confronted the intruder, who ran out the front door. The victim chased him, and the suspect stopped and pointed a handgun at him while they were still in the front yard of the home. The victim reported that the intruder then fired several shots at him, only one of which struck him. He was wounded in the leg, but not enough to stop him from chasing the burglar.

But the sound of the shots fired alerted a neighbor to call police, who were sent to the location at 1:28 am. In the meantime, the wounded resident found a second suspect hiding at the side of his house, whom he chased from his property on to Montecito Boulevard, the main street running off the cul-de-sac. While this one ran away, the victim reported a third suspect confronted him, and fired several shots at him. None of these hit the victim, however. He later reported that at least one of these two left the area in a dark colored sedan.

Police units soon arrived, and found the wounded man at his home. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, and while he was being treated, they took his statements, and quickly established a perimeter around the area where the suspect was seen running towards. Sheriff’s deputies and the Sheriff’s “Henry 1″ helicopter arrived on scene for the search, and a suspect was soon located in the thick vegetation, most likely past Brush Creek Road and Fountain Grove Parkway.

Amante Erwin Robinson was detained, and was in possession of a concealed handgun. The serial number had been filed off the gun. Robinson, 19 of Santa Rosa, was identified as the suspect in the house who had shot the victim in the leg. Along with several marijuana plants that had been taken, the burglars were also believed to have taken other personal property from the home.

Robinson was arrested on charges of attempted murder, burglary, being a felon in possession of a firearm, and removing a serial number from a firearm. Detectives from the Violent Crimes Team and Gang Crimes Team are assisting in the investigation. Anyone with information about the incident, or the identities or whereabouts of the two missing suspects, is encouraged to call 707-543-3590. Additionally, the Sonoma County Alliance “Take Back Our Community” program is offering up to $2500.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.

NOVATO – According to a press release yesterday from the Novato Police Department, one of the victims of a child molester spotted the perpetrator’s vehicle in downtown Novato and snapped a picture of it with his cell phone. Although the picture was of limited quality, the photo provided enough information for officers to utilize their Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) database to assist in identifying a suspect vehicle.

Jonathan Matthew Sobol

Jonathan Matthew Sobol

The ALPR search, aided with previously reported descriptions, resulted in identifying a suspect vehicle and a potential suspect. Jonathan Sobol, a 27-year-old Novato resident, was interviewed by detectives and then subsequently arrested and booked into Marin County Jail. Sobol faces charges of indecent exposure and annoying or molesting a child under 18.

A number of earlier incidents had prompted the Novato PD to request assistance from the public in finding the suspect.

On August 26, Novato PD received a report of a suspicious subject who had approached an adult male at the Square Shopping Center. The subject offered to “massage” the man. He then offered money to him as compensation for agreeing to the massage. On August 30, Novato PD received a report of a subject with similar appearance and vehicle approaching a juvenile at Harvest Marketplace. The same offer was proposed to the juvenile.

On September 2, the Novato PD the requested public assistance in these unusual incidents, and as a result, they received three additional previously unreported incidents, and an additional case. Each incident involved the subject offering to pay to massage a juvenile. In one case, the subject allegedly exposed himself while speaking with a juvenile. Those incidents spanned from September 2013 through August 2014. Sobol is now a suspect in all of these incidents.

SAN RAFAEL – On Wednesday, September 3, San Rafael Police Department received a report of a fight between a man and a woman in the 300 block of Fourth Street in San Rafael.

On arrival, officers found Fatimah Muhammed and Jesus Christ located at a nearby CVS store.  The officers learned that the couple were in a dating relationship and currently live together.  Earlier Christ had become upset with Muhammed because she had been driving too slow.  According to Muhammed, Christ then spit on her and then they proceeded to punch each other.

Muhammed sustained an injury to her left arm and Christ was subsequently arrested.  A warrant check revealed that Christ, a 56-year-old resident of Novato, is on Marin County probation for an earlier arrest of public intoxication on April 4 of this year. He was transported and booked at the Marin County Jail for domestic violence and a violation of parole.

The man who calls himself Jesus Christ has made the news before, and for similar circumstances. Christ, who had his name legally changed to match that of the “Prince of Peace”, has been arrested three previous times since 2005 on domestic violence charges, or for disobeying a court order related to domestic violence. It is not clear from records whether his victim has been the same woman who was involved in this incident.

SACRAMENTO—The Sacramento Coroner’s Office has identified Marquelle Jones, 24, as the man fatally shot on Tuesday, September 9 in a vehicle parked on Alta Arden Expressway in Sacramento.

Sacramento County Sheriff investigators determined that Jones was killed just after 9:00 pm, but have not yet determined a motive. It was reported by FOX 40 news, however, that Marquelle “Qeazy” Jones was a witness in the 2010 South Sacramento barbershop shooting that killed a woman. Monique Nelson was trying to shield her baby son from a shootout, and died from bullets fired by Louis and Lonnie Mitchell. The report also states that there is no indication at this time that Jones’ death is related to that case.

Deputies were dispatched to cross streets Ethan Way and Alta Arden Expressway following a call by a male who reported that his friend had been shot while sitting in the driver’s seat of his car. Jones had lost control of the car and crashed into the center median in the 2000 block of Alta Arden Expressway, according to a Sheriff’s Department news release.

Deputies arrived to find Jones inside his vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Detectives ask that anyone with information regarding this shooting to call the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-8477.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA – San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies, tracking a stolen portable welder, stumbled onto a major drug storage unit earlier this week.

Omar Medina, 33, a convicted felon from Los Angeles, was arrested and charged with several crimes after deputies tracked a stolen portable welder by use of a lo-jack on the 10000 block of 6th St.

The Ontario Aviation Division, using a helicopter in trying to track down the stolen welder, focused in on a trailer in the area of 6th St. and Archibald Ave. in neighboring Rancho Cucamonga. The lo-jack had sent signals from inside a commercial building, said deputies.

When deputies made contact at the business, the suspect, Medina, opened up a roll-up door. Deputies discovered the stolen welder that had been reported by the victim, but also saw a large pallet that contained 40,000 rounds of .223 and 7.62 ammunition.

It was in plain sight, according to reports. Investigators said the ammunition was for assault weapons.

A search warrant was authorized, later executed at the address, leading law enforcement to 141 marijuana plants that had displayed a strong odor.

Also, six motor vehicles, including sand rails, trailers and motorcycles were discovered that were later confirmed as stolen.

Investigators later determined that Medina, who was also in possession of cocaine, is a convicted felon.

Several motor vehicles were also recovered on Monday.

Medina, charged with possession of stolen property, cultivation of marijuana and cocaine, along with being a convicted felon in possession of ammunition, appeared in court on Wednesday, according to reports.

He was taken to the West Valley Detention Center, held on $100,000 bail.
