Man Arrested for Stealing Copper Wire

An Atascadero man is in custody for allegedly stealing copper wire from PG&E’s construction yard in Templeton.

According to the San Luis Obispo Sheriff’s Office, deputies with the SLO Sheriff’s Office arrested Brian Lindemuth, 42, of Atascadero in connection with the theft of the copper wire.

Investigators say Lindemuth was spotted loading items into a storage facility in Atascadero.

He was taken into custody where he admitted to stealing the copper wire and then selling it to local recycling centers.

Lindermuth was booked into SLO County Jail on three counts of grand theft, one count of receiving stolen property and one count of possession of methamphetamine.

PG&E had estimated the amount of loss at more than $5,000.

Deputies were able to recover approximately 360 pounds of copper wire.

It is unknown at time of press how long Lindermuth was allegedly stealing the copper wire and what recycling centers he was selling the wire.
