SAN BERNARDINO – Four suspects arrested Friday on armed robbery charges were scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
The broad daylight armed robbery attempt in the 1500 block of East Coulston Street in San Bernardino eventually led to police pursuits both in vehicles and on foot in the Los Angeles area. Charles Smith, 34, Khalid Muhammad, 33, and Trayvone Jackson, 33, all of Los Angeles, reportedly followed the victim home from an area bank at 12:45 pm in a silver vehicle.
San Bernardino Police reported that the three suspects approached the victim, one pointing a handgun at him, ordering him out of his car. The victim was forced at gunpoint to lie on the ground while suspects removed cash and a wallet from his pockets. After the suspects fled, the victim called 911 and began to pursue the suspects on his own. Police said the victim trailed the suspects into nearby Colton where the suspects pulled over and pointed a handgun at him.
“The victim feared for his life,” said Lt. Paul Williams, spokesman for San Bernardino Police, “and was unable to continue the pursuit of the suspects’ car.” The suspects fled back to the Los Angeles area.
Williams said officers later found the suspect’s car and attempted to make a traffic stop. Reports are that the suspects failed to yield, resulting in lengthy high speed pursuit that ended with a foot pursuit. All three suspects were eventually caught. A fourth suspect, Aiesha Jones, 34, was later found and arrested.
All four suspects were transported back to San Bernardino and were being held at the Sheriff’s Detention Center on charges of conspiracy, robbery, assault with a firearm and street terrorism.
