A 2-year-old boy’s uncle and grandmother are being accused of child endangerment after their pit bulls killed the child.
Colton residents Marco Zamudio, 23, Eustulia Zamudio, 42, were arrested Tuesday morning, a day after young Samuel Zamudio was mauled by the dogs. The toddler, who was being watched by the Zamudios in their home, apparently escaped through a window into the yard. The family, not knowing where he was, went out to search for him. The grandmother found the toddler with bite wounds to his head and neck.
Zamudio was transported to a nearby medical center where he was pronounced dead a short while later. Animal Control officers took custody of five dogs, all pit bull mixes, at the Zamudios’ home.
