Suspected of the March shooting death of a Brawley man, Francisco Javier Solaro appeared in court to face murder charges.

On March 23, 2013 at 6:50 p.m. concerned onlookers swarmed the intersection of B Street and North Eastern Avenue in Brawley after hearing gunshots and finding a fallen victim. Brawley Police officers responded to the scene and discovered 42-year-old Albert Ramos lying in the street and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Westmorland and Calipatria police along with Sheriff’s Office deputies assisted in securing the perimeter of the scene and crowd control. Emergency personnel were called and Ramos was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family members in attendance of the crime reported to police that there had been a prior altercation. A man identifying himself as Herman Cornejo and claiming to be the victim’s uncle reported that a neighbor, Javier Solario, and the victim had been involved in multiple disputes prior to the shooting. Brawley police took note of the accusation and began their investigation.
After looking further into the incident, investigators confirmed Cornejo’s suspicions and sought Solario, 39, of Brawley as a suspect on murder charges. He was arrested without incident. Brawley police were also able to locate the weapon believed to have been used in the crime. Solario was booked into the Imperial County Jail on suspicion of murder.
On Tuesday, September 17, Solario appeared in Imperial Superior Court to answer to the charges of first-degree murder. His arrangement is set to be held on October 1.
