The intersection of Brookhurst and McFadden was the scene of the fatal DUI collision
Drinking likely played a role in a fatal car crash early Tuesday morning that took the life of a 27-year-old Fountain Valley man.
Anaheim resident Emmanuel Garibay, 32, was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI after receiving treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. Police say Garibay was driving in Westminster when his Nissan truck collided with a Honda Civic at the intersection of Brookhurst Street and McFadden Avenue.
Both men were taken to the hospital, but the driver of the Civic, whose name has not yet been released, didn’t survive. As of Tuesday it was not clear who was at fault for the crash, although authorities did say alcohol appeared to be a factor, according to local media reports.
Garibay was being held at the Orange County Jail pending his first court appearance.
