HR Director Wife Conceals Sex-Offender Husband’s Identity

Ventura County – Lending ever more credence to the aphorism “love is blind”, over recent weeks Oxnard Police Department detectives have been investigating the activities of Guillermo Martin, 39, and his wife Araceli Martin, 35, and discovered that she has been engaged in the ongoing perpetration of multiple crimes on his behalf.

According to Oxnard Police Department spokesman Det. Jason Coleman, Araceli Martin holds the position of Human Resources Director at an area business, which hired her husband based upon the qualifications outlined in his personal history file. The one little thing missing from his file, allegedly, is the fact that Guillermo Martin is a registered sex offender required to disclose that information when applying for employment or housing. His wife, investigators determined, did what she could to “facilitate Guillermo’s employment and conceal his true identity” for a period of approximately six months.

While in the employ of the same company employing his wife, Detectives have come to believe that Guillermo Martin embezzled company funds by using business funds to buy nearly $2,000 in merchandise for his personal use. According to her LinkedIn profile, Araceli Martin works for Reiter Affiliated Companies, an agricultural firm dealing in Driscoll’s Strawberries and other fresh berries. Her status may be changing soon.

Pursuant to the product of the OPD investigation, a search warrant was served in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 28th upon the Martin residence. That search led detectives to the discovery of additional items in the residence indicating the use of multiple identities by Guillermo, and both husband and wife were taken into custody at that time. They were transported to Ventura County Jail where they were booked on charges of sex offender failure to provide information, false impersonation, identity theft, conspiracy, and grand theft.

Police looking for Truck With Front End Damage

SANTA CRUZ—The Santa Cruz Police Department needs help in identifying the driver of a grey truck, who witnesses say intentionally slammed into a Black Mercedes on 400 block of Palm Street.

On Sunday, May 17, the Santa Cruz Police Department responded to multiple reports of vehicles chasing one another in the area near Neary Lagoon Park. Shortly after that call, the dispatch center started to receive calls of a hit and run accident that occurred on the 400 block of Palm Street.

Witnesses told police that they saw a grey truck chase an older black Mercedes in the area of Bay Street and California Street. The speeding Mercedes lost control and eventually crashed into the curb on Palm Street.

The chasing truck, which was also following at a high-rate of speed, rear-ended the Mercedes. After hitting the Mercedes, witnesses stated that the driver of the truck then backed up, and witnesses described the truck as intentionally slamming into the victim’s car again. Both drivers were heard yelling at each other in the street.

After intentionally ramming the victim’s vehicle, the suspected truck backed up and fled the area heading westbound on Palm Street.  The truck had significant front end damage. The victim in the Mercedes was transported to Dominican Hospital with a compound fracture to his leg.

The suspect vehicle is described as light grey full size pickup truck. The suspect driver is described as being a white male in his 40s.

Santa Cruz Police is asking anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them at 831-420-5820.

HAWTHORNE – What nurses do outside of the hospital or doctor’s office is certainly their own business, until it involves behavior such as assault. An afternoon domestic dispute between a couple resulted in a call to Hawthorne police.

Tony Michael, 58, and Helen Tingson Henry, 51, were both arrested by officers on Monday, May 25 at approximately 3:38 p.m. at their shared apartment-building home along the block of 13000 South Roselle Avenue in Hawthorne. Both told police that their occupation was “nurse.”

Michael was charged with inflicting corporal injury on a spouse/cohabitant (273.5(A)PC) – domestic violence – and possessing less than 28.5 grams of marijuana (11357(B)HS). Henry was charged with the same domestic violence charges, as well as assault with a deadly weapon (but not a firearm) (245(A)(1)PC).

It appears that the couple were involved in a violent altercation, but that Ms. Henry used a weapon to overcome Michael’s 30 pound weight advantage.

In any case, bail for the man was set at $50,035; the $35 was for the marijuana charge. Bail for the woman was set at $80,000; police did not disclose the nature of the weapon she allegedly used.

HAWTHORNE, CA—Memorial Day is one of the nation’s worst days for driving under the influence (DUI), according to a great many police departments’ statistics.

Roberto Saldana, 30, apparently decided to make his DUI arrest more memorable, however, by adding a hit and run and other violations. On Monday, May 25, he was popped by Hawthorne police officers for a hit and run resulting in injury and/or death (20001)(A)VC), driving without a license (12500(A)VC) and three DUIs. One DUI was for having 0.08 percent or higher blood-alcohol content (23152(A)VC), one for having drugs in his system (23152(B)VC) and the third one for causing injury and/or death while driving and having a measurable amount of alcohol and/or drugs in his system (23153(A)VC).

The total bail for the Lawndale resident’s lack of respect in so many ways was set at $195,000. The single highest charge was $100,000 for the 23153(A)VC charge, and the second highest was for the hit and run.

An arrest was made on Wednesday, May 20 of a suspected car thief in Madera. According to records from the Madera County Department of Corrections and the Madera Police, Gilbert Aaron Morales, 42, was arrested by Madera PD at the corner of East 6th Street and South Gateway Drive. The location is the home of Courthouse Park, which is next to the old Madera Courthouse, now the Madera County Museum. (The current Madera County Superior Court is just beyond, across Yosemite Avenue.)

Morales, who reports working in a stereo shop, was arrested that Wednesday morning, and charged with taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, possessing the vehicle as stolen property, and felony parole violations. Past records show he has been arrested several times, beginning in 2009, for driving on a suspended license. He was also charged at that time with failure to appear in court, but his original offense was not available. He was arrested for an unspecified outstanding warrant in 2010, and charged with driving on a suspended license again in 2011, when he was also charged with possessing marijuana while driving. He had another suspended license arrest in 2012.

Bail would have been set at $35,000 for the vehicle theft and stolen property charges, but his parole violation made him ineligible. He will be appearing at the nearby Madera Courthouse soon.

MCFARLAND — A pair of Bakersfield women were arrested last Wednesday in McFarland for allegedly selling black tar heroin.

Patsy Perkins, 55, and 54-year-old Brenda Mayall, both of Bakersfield, were booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Department Central Receiving Facility on possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance for sales and other drug related charges.

According to the McFarland Police Department, the women were taken into custody when officers discovered one half pound of suspected tar heroin after conducting a traffic stop of the vehicle Perkins and Mayhall were driving, at around 7 p.m. on May 27, in the city of McFarland.

During the stop, officers said they noticed a bag containing an estimated $18,000 of heroin, which the one of the suspects had dropped outside the door of the vehicle. After a search of the vehicle, officers said they also found other items consistent with narcotic sales and seized over $1,600 in cash.

A man, suspected of child abuse, was arrested in the Yosemite Lakes area of Coarsegold, a forested area between Madera and Oakhurst, south of the famous Yosemite Valley.

According to an official media report released by the Madera County Department of Corrections, Andrew Owen Olsen, 28, was arrested by the Madera Sheriff’s Department on a felony charge of inflicting corporal injury on a child. He was arrested and booked early on Tuesday, May 21. The victim’s identity was not released, though Olsen reportedly has one young son.

Previous arrest records show that Olsen, while living in Sacramento, was arrested on February 18 by Sacramento Police and charged with DUI, driving on a suspended license, public intoxication, and having an excessive blood alcohol level. He was arrested where he was living at the time, in a group of small homes on Branch Street in North Sacramento. Prior to that, in March of 2014 while living in Coarsegold at the same address he is currently reporting, he was charged with DUI and driving on a suspended license.

Earlier court records show that Olsen, a reported laborer, was arrested in 2013 for disorderly conduct and being drunk in public. And after bail of $50,000 was set for his latest arrest, Olsen was arrested once again over this last weekend, on Saturday May 30, for the same charges. Olsen’s Facebook profile shows that he is in construction and remodeling, and is also a tattoo artist.

SACRAMENTO—The boyfriend of a Sacramento mother was arrested on Saturday, May 30, for the murder of her six-year-old daughter.

Detectives booked Juan Rivera, 25, on charges of murder. He is being held at Sacramento County Main Jail without bail and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies confirmed over the weekend that they had found the body of Jadianna Larsen, 6, at approximately 10:20 am on Thursday in a rural area near Artois in Glenn County, about 90 miles northwest of Sacramento.

The body was discovered in rural Glenn County off of Co. Road D.

The body was discovered in rural Glenn County off of Co. Road D.

A fire crew had responded to a brush fire in the rural location about a mile and a half off I-5, when they made the grisly discovery of a charred suitcase with Larsen’s small body inside. They notified the Glenn County Sheriff’s office while extinguishing the fire along County Road D, a third of a mile south of Road 33, which burned undergrowth near a grove of cottonwood trees between two orchards.

The violent death of Larsen has saddened and angered many. Candles, balloons and teddy bears were placed at the Martin Luther King Jr. Village apartments on 47th Avenue in south Sacramento where the child and her mother, Tanecia Clark, 30, lived.

A neon sign which read “Jadianna – Sorry you could not be helped by a system that should protected you” reflected much bitterness over the tragedy. A public candlelight vigil was held Sunday evening at 8:00 pm at McClatchy Park in Oak Park.

Sheriff’s Department Spokesperson Sgt. Lisa Bowman said Clark was away undergoing psychological medical treatment when her daughter disappeared. She had left Jadianna in the care of Rivera, her live-in boyfriend, who is a registered drug offender. Bowman also said Rivera does have a fingerprint number and FBI number which indicates he has been arrested or convicted of a felony offense.

Investigators are trying to determine where the child was killed. The location of the crime will determine which agency would have overall jurisdiction.

Rivera told investigators that he last saw Jadianna at 11 a.m. Thursday in their apartment. He said he was stricken with a bout of seizures that lasted more than nine hours and that after they subsided, both he and his mother searched for Jadianna for 30 minutes before calling 911.

Sgt. Bowman said Rivera’s booking photograph is not being released at this time due to the need for immediate follow up investigation.

Cassy Carissa Yadon and Luis Martin Jr. were also arrested, along with a juvenile.

Cassy Carissa Yadon and Luis Martin Jr. were also arrested, along with a juvenile.

Two men were taken to the hospital on Wednesday, May 27 suffering from stab wounds and cuts after an attack in front of an Elk Grove residence in the early evening. Following reports of a fight that involved a machete, knife, and pipe, police arrived just before 7:00 p.m. to the house on the 5400 block of Coral Creek Way.

James Bishop, 18, had allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed Nicholas Stewart, 33, on both arms while they were in front of Stewart’s home following an argument over the sale of a GPS device. Police say that Matthew Rohr, 30, rushed to Stewart’s aid by hitting Bishop on the head with a metal pipe.

At that point, another man, Jesse Dean Bishop, 19, pulled out a machete and began swinging at both Stewart and Rohr, nearly severing Rohr’s middle and index fingers. Both Rohr and Stewart also suffered numerous lacerations on their torsos and arms before their attackers fled on foot.

A 16-year-old was taken to Sacramento Juvenile Hall on the same charges. Martin, Yadon, and the Bishop brothers all currently reside at the house on Blue Sapphire, which is just a couple of blocks, about a quarter mile, from the scene of the assault.

INGLEWOOD, CA—It’s a dog’s life moonlighting as a collector of warrants and wracking up assault charges, but why bother grooming dogs as one’s day job?

Kameron William Cook, 25, was arrested on Tuesday, May 26 by Inglewood police. he was picked up at the intersection of Arbor Vitae Street and Crenshaw Boulevard, just one major block from the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, for a number of felony violations and misdemeanor warrants.

The felonies were assault with a firearm (245(A)(2)PC) and assault with a deadly weapon that was not a firearm (245(A)(1)PC); the fresh misdemeanor charge was for driving with a suspended license (14601.1AVC). HAWTHORNE, CA—In this day and age of the World Wide Web, many entrepreneurs are trying to be self-contained conception, execution and distribution systems. Some people, however, take a more “hands on” approach.

Chirsum Lamont Goodwin, 33, was popped by Hawthorne police officers on Sunday, May 24 at approximately midnight along the 12100 block of South Eucalyptus Avenue, just a few blocks away from the Hawthorne PD. He was charged with first degree robbery (211PC), receiving or possessing known stolen goods (496(A)PC), presenting false identification to a police officer (148.9(A)PC), mail theft (18 1708US) and a miscellaneous municipal code violation (HAMC).

It is not clear whether Goodwin planned to sell, or “fence” the stolen goods, or if he had other uses for the purloined property.

Bail for the handful of felonies and misdemeanors in Goodwin’s illegal operation was set at $127,750. At the high end was the robbery charge good for $100,000, and at the low end was the undefined HAMC violation for $250.

According to Los Angeles Police records, in January of 2014 and August of 2013 Goodwin was arrested for a simpler operation, possession of a narcotic controlled substance.

HAWTHORNE, CA—Love is…a pair of reciprocal arrests for spousal battery on a late weekday night.

Samona Michelle Chretten, 19, and Devon Christopher McKillian, 20, were apprehended by Hawthorne police officers on Tuesday, May 26 at approximately 11:35 p.m. The two were picked up along the 11700 block of South Gale Avenue near the intersection of West 124th Street—just seven short blocks from the Hawthorne police department.

They were each arrested for battery of a spouse/ex-spouse (243(E)(1)PC), a charge that is perhaps one of the most dangerous situations for police officers. According to a November, 1986 report in the U.S. Department’s National Institute of Justice newsletter, “Police intervention in disputes between family members is frequently cited as a routine police assignment that is particularly dangerous.” It went on to quote the 1976 Training Key’s “Investigation of Wife Beating” published by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP): “‘Since 1966, 157 officers have lost their lives responding to disturbance calls.’”

None of the officers involved appeared to have been injured, however, as there were no additional charges levied against Chretten and McKillian.

Each were hit with a bail of $20,000.

Chadley Joe Gott-Simmons was someone well known to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s office. He’s a long time resident of Redwood Valley, the small town of under 2000 just north of Ukiah and Lake Mendocino in the inland valley along Highway 101. Available records and media reports show he was arrested in 2002, when he was 19, for driving under the influence.

A location on Uva Drive in Redwood Valley has been Gott-Simmons' residence of record for the past 10 years or more.

A location on Uva Drive in Redwood Valley has been Gott-Simmons’ residence of record for the past 10 years or more.

Since then, in the six years between 2005 and 2011 he was arrested at least fifteen more times. While already on probation, he was charged in April of 2005 with burglary. In the remainder of that year he was charged on three more occasions of being under the influence of a controlled substance, trespassing, attempted vehicle theft, and possession of stolen property, along with probation violations.

In 2006 he faced another trespassing charge, and in 2007 he was arrested for vandalism. 2008 was another “busy” year, and more violent, as he was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, vandalism of over $5,000 damage, and resisting arrest. In 2009 he was charged with being under the influence, failure to appear in court, probation violations, and in December, with making threats of violence and another vandalism charge.

June of 2010 saw him charged again with threats of violence, vandalism of over $5,000, and indecent exposure after illegally entering an occupied dwelling. Further details of that incident and the others were not available. He was charged in March of 2011 with simple possession of narcotics. After a break in records, while he may have been serving time, Gott-Simmons was arrested earlier this year, on February 15, and charged with misdemeanor battery.

All that history led up to charges that may now finally result, if he is convicted, in his being put away for many years in prison.

The victim was assaulted in her home, located on Pinecrest Drive.

The victim was assaulted in her home, located on Pinecrest Drive.

On the evening of Thursday, May 28, a 46-year-old woman arrived at the Ukiah Valley Medical Center in Ukiah, about 10 miles from her home in Redwood Valley, on the small rural road of Pinecrest Drive near the Redwood Valley Middle School. According to the Sheriff’s Department, she reported that her injuries were the result of a sexual assault. Responding deputies took her statement that she had been forcibly raped by Chadley Gott-Simmons at least twice that day at her own home.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit took over the case, and continued the investigation well into that night. Through the victim’s statement and the evidence collected they established probable cause to arrest Gott-Simmons, and found him at his home in west Redwood Valley, near Highway 101 on Uva Drive.

Chadley Joe Gott-Simmons, 31, 6’4″ and 195 pounds, was arrested at 4:00 am Friday and charged with rape by force or fear, false imprisonment, and oral copulation by force. He is being held on $100,000 bail at the Mendocino County Jail. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information about the suspect or case is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s office.

Point Arena is the home of one of the world famous Northern California lighthouses that hug the Mendocino County shore and bring tourists to explore the beautiful scenery and historic, romantic structures that once guided ships at sea and kept them from crashing into the rocky coastline. But just south of the iconic lighthouse, and both coastal and marine reserves, is the small town of Point Arena. The city of under 500 people is nestled along Highway 1, also known as the Shoreline Highway and, when it passes through town, Main Street.

Perez emerged from Mill Street (right) and headed up Main, where the trouble began.

Perez emerged from Mill Street (right) and headed up Main, where the trouble began.

A man who lives in Point Arena, 30-year-old Daniel Vergara Perez, got up last Tuesday morning, May 26, and apparently began drinking, or perhaps taking some kind of drug, early in the day. By the afternoon he left his home on Mill Street, and walked to the small central part of town along Main, which is only about a block away.

According to the Mendocino Sheriff’s Department, as he got to the Main Street area, Perez began kicking doors of the local businesses, banging on their windows, confronting pedestrians with challenges to fight, and walking out onto the street, stopping traffic. He threw a bottle at a 49-year-old local man, and physically assaulted another man, shoving a 27-year-old visiting from Southern California’s Manhattan Beach.

By 1:45 people had begun calling the Sheriff’s Office to report the strange and disturbing behavior, and deputies soon responded to the area and were able to take Perez into custody. He was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon – the bottle; simple assault, for accosting and shoving the other victim; disturbing the peace with offensive language, and fighting or challenging a fight in a public place. He was also charged with violating his probation.

Perez had been arrested just a week prior, on Monday, May 18, on charges of public intoxication. Earlier records show he was arrested in 2013, in January for inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or co-habitant (domestic violence), and in July once again for public intoxication. He faced that charge again in May of 2014.

Perez was booked into the Mendocino County Jail and held on $35,000 bail for his latest offenses. The Sheriff’s Department did not specify if he was under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or some combination.

San Rafael Bank of Marin

San Rafael Bank of Marin

Witnesses reported that a black male used a handgun in committing the crime. He was described as about 40 years old, 6’0 tall with a scruffy beard, and had last been seen wearing a dark colored shirt with a cartoon basketball player design on the front, a dark hoodie, black leather jacket, blue jeans and a baseball style hat in red and white with a 49er’s logo on the front .

At approximately 11 am, two SRPD officers saw a person matching the suspect’s description at the San Rafael Transit Center three blocks away from the bank. Due to the proximity of the crime, the similar clothing, and physical description of the suspect, the officers contacted the man to determine if he was involved with the robbery.

Captain Glenn McElderry and Lieutenant Alan Piombo contacted the suspect, who initially complied with the their requests. But he then became uncooperative and reached for a bag that he had put on the ground when initially contacted, and tried to get away.

With knowledge of the armed robbery nearby, the matching descriptions, and the suspect no longer complying with the officers, they took him to the ground to prevent his escape. While the suspect resisted officers as they tried to handcuff him, they saw a semi-automatic pistol in his waistband. The handgun was removed and the suspect was handcuffed.

After quickly entering the facility, the suspects began to break into lockers looking for remote key fobs in order to locate cars parked near the gym. When the car beeped, they would use the keys to drive it away.

The SJPD was able to identify them through follow up investigations into the incidents. According to Officer Morales, there were three confirmed car thefts with two attempted. Morales said, “We are continuing to follow up on possibly others.” YMCA employees were instrumental in helping to identify the suspects and provide crucial evidence and information, according to police.

This case comes at the heels of an arrest by Palo Alto Police of a suspect who had broken into numerous vehicles throughout the Bay Area. According to authorities 27-year-old Andrew Peacock of Oakland broke multiple cars within four different parking lots along El Camino Real. Police departments from Los Altos, Mountain View, and Palo Alto teamed up to make the arrest of the serial auto burglar.

According to KTVU, Palo Alto Police Sergeant James Reifschneider said, “Just last month was our worst month in probably a year and a half in terms of the sheer volume,” Reifschneider said, “We had almost 60 auto burglaries reported just during the month of May.” According to the department’s figures, in May alone Palo Alto reported 59 auto burglaries, which was the highest in one month’s time since December 2013. The numbers have increased this year, with a total of 313 auto burglaries in all of 2014, there have been at least 192 auto burglaries already reported since January of 2015.

According to authorities, on Monday, June 1 between 11:07 a.m. and 11:26 a.m., their 24-hour dispatch center received four separate calls of auto burglaries that had just occurred. The first occurred in the Town & Country Shopping Center parking lot at 855 El Camino Real, the second at the Starbucks parking lot at 2000 El Camino Real, the third at the Corner Bakery Cafe parking lot at 3375 El Camino Real, and the fourth at the Hobee’s Restaurant parking lot at 4224 El Camino Real.

Peacock's route took him from 855 to 4224 El Camino Real in Palo Alto.

The suspect had been found to be targeting unoccupied vehicles with personal electronic items inside, such as laptops, iPads, and other electronic devices that had been left in plain view. Peacock reportedly smashed car windows in order to steal these types of items.

At about 11:32 a.m., an officer from the Mountain View Police Department located the suspect’s vehicle in the In-N-Out Burger parking lot at 1159 North Rengstorff Avenue in Mountain View. Detectives from the Palo Alto Police Department were already in the area looking for the suspect, and tried to block Peacock’s exit, but instead of stopping he rammed the unmarked detectives’ car and got away. Fortunately no one was injured.

After evading police through a high speed chase onto Highway 101, at about 11:47 a.m., an officer from the Los Altos Police Department observed the suspect vehicle driving in the area of Grant Road and Fremont Avenue but was unable to stop him.

A short time later, a Los Altos Police Department detective in an unmarked car observed the suspect walking in the 700 block of Berry Avenue. The detective called for additional officers and kept the suspect under observation. The suspect walked into the Los Altos Bakery Cafe inside the Rancho Shopping Center at 600 Fremont Avenue. Officers from the Los Altos Police Department went into the bakery and found the suspect hiding inside the restroom. They detained him without further incident.

According to investigators, “Detectives from the Los Altos Police Department found the suspect’s damaged vehicle parked in the 700 block of Alvina Court, immediately around the corner from where they had first seen him walking. Detectives from the Palo Alto Police Department towed the suspect’s vehicle for investigation and are currently processing it, as well as items inside of it, for evidence.”

Detectives recovered all of the property stolen from the four Palo Alto auto burglaries that had occurred on June 1, and they also located personal checkbooks and a cell phone they believe to have been stolen in other auto burglaries from other jurisdictions. Detectives are working to return these items to the rightful owners.

Peacock was found to be on active probation out of Alameda County for a prior conviction of burglary. Additional charges against Peacock may be forthcoming from the Mountain View Police Department and the Los Altos Police Department as a result of his actions.

“This is a great example of interagency cooperation, with three departments working together to locate and arrest a prolific burglar,” said Lieutenant Zach Perron of the Palo Alto Police Department. “We very much appreciate the help from the Los Altos Police Department and the Mountain View Police Department, and we’re pleased that this incident ended without anyone being injured.”

Rivera’s original story was that he suffered a seizure last Thursday and didn’t realize his girlfriend’s daughter Jadianna was missing until Burton came to check on him at his residence on 47th Avenue. The girl’s body had been discovered earlier that morning in Glenn County.

The child’s mother, Tanecia Clark, was away for mental health treatment at the time of her daughter’s death. Rivera regularly stayed at the Martin Luther King Jr. apartment complex with his mother and Clark.

Sacramento County court records also show that Rivera and Burton both have criminal records.

Rivera has a criminal history dating to 2010, when he pleaded no contest and was convicted in Yolo County of felony methamphetamine possession with intent to sell, and felony burglary.

Burton was convicted of several crimes in Sacramento County during the 1990s. In 1998, she pleaded no contest to a prostitution charge. That same year, she pleaded no contest to a charge of driving under the influence. In 1995, she pleaded no contest to illegally distributing hypodermic needles. That same year, she pleaded no contest to a theft charge.

Burton and Rivera are scheduled to appear in Sacramento Superior Court on June 12 at 8:30 a.m.
