MENLO PARK – On Friday, July 12 Menlo Park police arrested 38-year-old Michael Ford of Palo Alto on felony charges of leaving the scene of an accident after crashing into two vehicles and driving under the influence of alcohol.
That Friday evening, Ford climbed behind the wheel of a white 2011 Volkswagen Jetta and reportedly backed into a blue 2013 Ford Escape at the intersection of El Camino Real and Santa Cruz Ave. He exited to vehicle to exchange registration and insurance information with the other driver, Ford then climbed back into the driver’s seat and sped away.
During Ford’s exit, he clashed with a tan Nissan Altima but did not come to a halt, according to police. All of the cars incurred exterior detriment.
Through the use of Ford’s license plate number, police contacted him at his residence at Palo Alto and observed the damage his vehicle sustained. Police then made an arrest and booked Ford into the San Mateo County Jail.
The driver behind the wheel of the Ford Escape, 35, from the University Heights neighborhood of unincorporated Menlo Park, did report feeling some pain. The 56-year-old from San Mateo who drove the Nissan sustained no injuries.
