SANTA MARIA – A San Diego man was arrested last week on suspicion of residential burglary after he allegedly broke into a couple’s home in the 200 block of South Superior Street and entered their bedroom.

Arthur Jackson

According to police, Arthur Jackson, 29, attempted to break into several homes in the residential neighborhood in the pre-dawn hours of  Friday, July 12, but was only successful on his second try.

A woman who was asleep in the home told police she heard keys and woke up to find Jackson standing in her bedroom. The woman screamed when she saw the suspect, which awoke her husband who then chased Jackson out of the house and down the street while his wife called 911, Santa Maria police said.

Officers were able to locate Jackson in the neighborhood after numerous residents called police and described him to dispatchers. He was booked at Santa Barbara County Jail on charges of prowling and residential burglary in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Jackson is currently on parole through San Diego police.
