Six Arrested in Drug Bust that Nets 10 Pounds of Meth

BAKERSFIELD — Kern County Sheriff’s deputies arrested six people Thursday after finding methamphetamine inside a southwest Bakersfield home.

Deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Major Violator Unit, Gang Suppression Section, California Multi-Jurisdictional Methamphetamine Enforcement Team, Kern Narcotics Enforcement Team and High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Team executed a search warrant at a home in the 5600 block of Annette Street at about 1 p.m. on May 29.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, the search warrant was the result of an intense investigation that spanned several months into the sales of methamphetamine in the Bakersfield area.

In the home, deputies found 10 pounds of suspected methamphetamine and about $5,000.00 in cash.

Two of the suspects, 50-year-old Israel Torres and 35-year-old Manuel Arellano of Bakersfield, were taken into custody without incident.

Torres was booked for possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine and conspiracy.

Arellano was booked for possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy and maintaining a residence for the purpose of selling a controlled substance.

Deputies also arrested four additional suspects during the raid, just outside the residence after trying to flee the scene on foot.

They are; Pedro Lopez, 37, Otoniel Larios, 49, Luis Sandoval, 26, and Erik Barboza, 33, all from Bakersfield.

Lopez was booked on possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy, transportation of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

Larios was booked for possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy, transportation of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

Sandoval was booked for possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy, transportation of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

Barboza was booked on possession of methamphetamine for sale, possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy, transportation of a controlled substance and resisting arrest

All of the suspects are currently behind bars at the Kern County Jail Central Receiving Facility with bail amounts ranging from no bail to $510,000.
