According to the Dixon police log, a Dixon resident was placed under arrest by police officers in the Wal-Mart located at 235 East Dorset Drive, Dixon, on May 18. Brittnie Barr, 24, was charged with burglary. According to a Dixon Police Department spokesperson, the crime for which Barr was charged ”is technically a burglary because we have to prove the person had intent to commit theft when they entered the building (Section 459 of the Penal Code).”
According to the Dixon P.D. spokesperson, the Wal-Mart loss prevention staff had held Barr under citizens arrest until Dixon police officers arrived. “As for downgrading charges,” the Dixon P.D. spokesperson added, “that is up to the DA’s office when they file the complaint for prosecution.”
