BAKERSFIELD — A man suspected of attempted murder has been arrested following an intense SWAT standoff in east Bakersfield.

Wanted on an outstanding warrant for attempted murder, kidnapping, a felon in possession of a firearm, assault with a firearm as well as gang enhancement charges, Kern County Sheriff’s gang investigators were trying to find 32-year-old Alfred Feliz at approximately 5:50 p.m., May 23.
When deputies eventually spotted Feliz, he fled on foot leading deputies on a chase before holding up inside a residence in the 1400 block of West Drive near Quincy Street.
Believed to be in possession of a firearm, police said Feliz refused to exit the home and after repeated attempts for his surrender failed, the Kern County Sheriff’s S.W.A.T. team was called and a search warrant for the residence was obtained.
Police said they had to evacuate at least four homes and several adjacent apartments as a safety precaution.
At approximately 10:40 p.m. the S.W.A.T. team made entry into the residence, taking Feliz into custody as he attempted to flee the scene through a window.
Feliz was transported and booked into the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Central Receiving Facility on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, assault with a semi-automatic firearm on a person, participating in a street gang, violation of post release supervision and possession of a firearm by a felon.
His bail is established at $2,400,000.
A spokesperson or the Sheriff’s office said no one was injured during the incident.
