YOUNTVILLE – On Sunday night a resident of Yountville was arrested in his home on suspicion of embezzlement and other associated charges after reportedly scamming someone out of $65,000.  The Sheriff’s office first learned of the incident on March 25, when Thomas Wallin allegedly persuaded another person into giving him the money in order to commission a joint winery venture.

Reportedly, Wallin told the victim that he’d use to the money to buy two wineries, add refinements and resell them to make more.

Wallin allegedly gave the victim a $25,000 check and a $15,000 check in December- both of which were no good.  Detectives concluded that Wallin never bought the wineries as he said he would and reportedly provided fake paperwork to the victim and used false bank statements.  Wallin was arrested and transported to the Napa County Jail on suspicion of forgery, fraud and embezzlement.
