3 juveniles jailed in Olivehurst Shooting

OLIVEHURST – Police arrested three Yuba County teens in association with the attempted murder of a Lincoln resident on Saturday night after a SWAT team encompassed an Olivehurst home and told the suspects to relinquish.

Jesus Villarreal, 18, and two juveniles, 17 and 15, were booked on the 4800 block of Western Avenue by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department at about midnight. Reportedly, for shooting a Lincoln man in the arm two hours previous.

The Lincoln man’s name was not released.Capt. Ron Johnson said the shooting occurred approximately at 10 p.m. near Seventh Street and Olivehurst Ave. after the victim walked out of a convenience store.  The male was staying with his friends in Olivehurst and was on his way back when he noticed a car lurking beside him.

Two or three people quickly retreated from the vehicle and that’s when the Lincoln man began to run.

While running, the Lincoln male heard three abrupt gun shots behind him and soon felt a poignant burning sensation in his arm.

Fortunately, the victim escaped and was transported to Rideout Memorial Hospital. Capt. Johnson stated the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department promptly checked video tape from cameras at the convenience store and successfully identified the three teenagers- all of which were gang members.

Capt. Johnson said the Lincoln man claims not to be a gang member, but Johnson is unaware if his Olivehurst friends had gang associations.

Officers discovered the same vehicle used during a shooting at the victim’s home moments later and got a search warrant.  The SWAT team encompassed the home, while police used a loud speaker to communicate with the teens.

All three teens were taken into custody.  Villarreal was booked into the Yuba County Jail, while the other teens were taken to bi-county juvenile hall.Villarreal is in custody on $1,020,000 bail.  The teens were charged on suspicion of attempted murder with gang enhancements
