Morro Bay police have a man in custody who, they say, is a sex offender.
The suspect, Jason Wade Gale, 39, of Oregon was arrested in Morro Bay on Thursday night for allegedly trying to steal tools from a home in the 400 block of Dunes Street.
According to police, they received a call regarding a report of an unknown man on the resident’s property. The police found Gale in the garage of the residence and it is unknown whether or not Gale had any of the stolen property on him when he was arrested or why he was in the area at all.
Gale was detained at the scene and booked into the San Luis Obispo Jail where he is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail for burglary.
Gale’s record reveals he has a previous burglary charge as well as felony sexual abuse and child endangerment convictions.
