Two men were taken to the hospital on Wednesday, May 27 suffering from stab wounds and cuts after an attack in front of an Elk Grove residence in the early evening. Following reports of a fight that involved a machete, knife, and pipe, police arrived just before 7:00 p.m. to the house on the 5400 block of Coral Creek Way.

James Bishop, 18, had allegedly pulled out a pocketknife and stabbed Nicholas Stewart, 33, on both arms while they were in front of Stewart’s home following an argument over the sale of a GPS device. Police say that Matthew Rohr, 30, rushed to Stewart’s aid by hitting Bishop on the head with a metal pipe.

At that point, another man, Jesse Dean Bishop, 19, pulled out a machete and began swinging at both Stewart and Rohr, nearly severing Rohr’s middle and index fingers. Both Rohr and Stewart also suffered numerous lacerations on their torsos and arms before their attackers fled on foot.

Officers, assisted by a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department helicopter, began a search and established a perimeter. Cassy Yadon was arrested at the scene of the attack, and the Bishops, along with Luis Martin and one teenager, were detained at their nearby home on Blue Sapphire Court. All five were arrested on suspicion of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon, battery, and conspiracy after police found evidence related to the assault, including clothing and weapons.

Booked into Sacramento County Jail were Luis Alfredo Martin Jr., 19, Cassy Carissa Yadon, 20, and James and Jesse Bishop. A 16-year-old was taken to Sacramento Juvenile Hall on the same charges. Martin, Yadon, and the Bishop brothers all currently reside at the house on Blue Sapphire, which is just a couple of blocks, about a quarter mile, from the scene of the assault.
