HAWTHORNE, CA—Memorial Day is one of the nation’s worst days for driving under the influence (DUI), according to a great many police departments’ statistics.

Roberto Saldana, 30, apparently decided to make his DUI arrest more memorable, however, by adding a hit and run and other violations. On Monday, May 25, he was popped by Hawthorne police officers for a hit and run resulting in injury and/or death (20001)(A)VC), driving without a license (12500(A)VC) and three DUIs. One DUI was for having 0.08 percent or higher blood-alcohol content (23152(A)VC), one for having drugs in his system (23152(B)VC) and the third one for causing injury and/or death while driving and having a measurable amount of alcohol and/or drugs in his system (23153(A)VC).

The total bail for the Lawndale resident’s lack of respect in so many ways was set at $195,000. The single highest charge was $100,000 for the 23153(A)VC charge, and the second highest was for the hit and run.
