Richard Burse Firebaugh (Green), 28
It is not uncommon for a simple traffic stop to end with an arrest and, according to the Eureka Police Department, 28-year-old Richard Burse Firebaugh, also known as Richard Green, of Fortuna was arrested exactly that way.
It all began when a Eureka Police officer observed an Oldsmobile sedan with a shattered window and a subsequent traffic stop. When he made contact with the occupants on the 1500 block of Broadway, Firebaugh, who was a passenger in the vehicle, admitted to having a bench warrant.
Items found by officers
The officer arrested Firebaugh and conducted a search of his belongings which turned out to be 8 baggies of crystal meth, two digital gram scales, drug paraphernalia, and a set of keys with smooth ridges, which are commonly used for auto burglaries. The officer also found a stolen Smith & Wesson .38 revolver in Firebaugh’s jacket in the car.
Firebaugh was transported and booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility for his warrant, as well as for possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of stolen property, possession of a firearm with intent to commit a felony, possession of a concealed firearm by a passenger in a vehicle, and possession of burglary tools.
