The Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Gang Task Force announced the arrest of a methamphetamine dealer who was based in a house just a block from one of the town’s middle schools, and a short distance from the high school.
On Friday, February 27, agents from the task force, along with Department of Homeland Security Inspectors, served a search warrant at a small home on the 500 block of East Lake Avenue. The home is just down the street from Edward A. Hall Middle School. Another two blocks away is the campus of Watsonville High School.
According to Sergeant Mark Yanez, the team located over sixteen grams of crystal methamphetamine, a digital scale, packing material, and over $2,800.00 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. The confiscated meth is estimated to be worth one to two thousands dollars.
34-year-old Sergio Quezada Chavez, the resident of the house, was arrested on the scene for possession of meth for sales.
