Early last Thursday afternoon police were called to the Bank of the West on Davis Street due to a suspicion that a customer was trying to cash a bad check. On arriving at the bank officers spoke with Victor Augusto Castaneda, who was alleged to be in possession of a fraudulent check.

Alert staff at the Bank Of The West alerted police to the forgery

Castaneda was detained while officers investigated. It was ultimately determined that he’d entered the bank in possession of a check with a forged signature and that he had tried to cash it. The suspect, aged 20 and from San Leandro, was arrested at the scene and booked into Solano County Jail on felony charges of burglary and forgery, and a misdemeanor charge of check fraud.

In a press release regarding the incident, Vacaville Police emphasized that this arrest would not have been possible without a partnership between the business community and the police department.

Anyone with information relevant to this case is asked to contact Officer Kevin O’Connell at 449-5200.
