Gameboys seem to be a thing of the past and most people do not have interest in playing them, especially adult men. However, it seems that one individual shows great interest in playing with the old gaming console.
On Tuesday, July 15 in Val Verde, deputies of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department arrested Manuel Cortez, 33, for a “hot prowl” burglary.
According to the report, Cortez went on the “hot prowl” burglary in a residence on the block of 30300 block of Arlington Street. Once he got into the residence, he stole power tools, cell phones, a GPS unit, and last, but not least, a Nintendo Gameboy SP.
On the Gambeoy, there was a name on the front and back of the gaming device. On the front, it said “Haley”, and on the back it said “Johnson”. There was reportedly no Haley Johnson at the residence where Cortez was being charged for. Detectives believe that some of the stolen items that were recovered, may be from another burglary.
The detectives, Perry Tardif at PCTardif@lasd.org or Detective Adam Dorman at aldorman@lasd.org,encourage anyone to contact them if they have any recent missing items.
Cortez is being held on a $160,000 bail.
