An unknown suspect(s) recently installed a credit card skimming device at the 76 gas station on the corner of Orange Avenue and Ninth Street in Coronado.
Coronado Police said the device was installed over a three-day period between 10 p.m., Nov. 30 and 5:40 p.m., Dec. 2.
Skimmer devices can copy account data from the magnetic stripe on the back of credit and debit card when they are swiped for a transaction. Skimmers can also collect a PIN, if the user types that into the keypad. [...]
