LOS ANGELES – The usual quiet of a North Hills nursing facility was interrupted on Wednesday morning when authorities say Lance Holger Anderson, 60, entered the building and shot his sister to death. Police say the victim, 58-year-old Lisa Nave, had been in a vegetative state for five years while living at the County Villa Sheraton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 9655 Sepulveda Boulevard.
Reports state that Nave came out of a coma four weeks ago but continued to be invalid and needing constant care.
The incident was apparently a “mercy killing” by Holger, who laid the gun down and walked onto the patio, waiting for the police. He was arrested without incident.
Further investigation led police to make a welfare check on Holger’s wife in the 26800 block of Claudette Street in Canyon Country. At the Holger residence police discovered her lifeless body, also with a gunshot wound. According to reports, she had been suffering from a degenerative disease.
Anderson was arrested and booked on suspicion of murder.
